Student Success Plans

Student Success Plans help address student academic, career/college, and personal/social needs during their four years at Valley Regional High School. Each of the developmental school counseling curriculum activities listed are aligned with the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Standards.

Grade 9
Naviance Strengths Explorer :
PS:A1.1: Develop positive attitudes toward self as a unique and worthy person
PS:A1.10: Identify personal strengths and assets
Academic Goal Setting (in Naviance):
A:B2.1: Establish challenging academic goals in high school.
A:B2.4: Apply knowledge of aptitudes and interests to goal setting.

Grade 10
Naviance Career Interest Profiler:
C:B1.3: Demonstrate knowledge of the career-planning process
C:B1.5: Use research and information resources to obtain career information
Academic Goal Setting (in Naviance):
A:B2.1: Establish challenging academic goals in high school.
A:B2.4: Apply knowledge of aptitudes and interests to goal setting.

Grade 11
Naviance College Search (post-secondary planning/research tool):
A:B2.7: Identify post-secondary options consistent with interests, achievement, aptitude and abilities
C:B2.1: Demonstrate awareness of the education and training needed to achieve career goals.
Academic Goal Setting (in Naviance):
A:B2.1: Establish challenging academic goals in high school.
A:B2.4: Apply knowledge of aptitudes and interests to goal setting.

Grade 12:
Students identify their post-secondary plans and work with their School Counselor on completing applications, requesting transcripts and letters of recommendation through Naviance, and selecting a final post-secondary decision based on their interests, aptitude and achievements at Valley.

Through their internship opportunities in our School-to-Career office and their school-wide senior Capstone experiences, students continue to identify and research their career and post-secondary goals.

C:C2.4: Apply academic and employment readiness skills in work-based learning situations such as internships, shadowing and/or mentoring experiences.
