Career Internship

CAREER INTERNSHIPS

The internship program is designed to provide students with real-world experience in identified areas of career interest by working in partnership with nearby businesses and industries, schools, medical facilities, government, and other community and service organizations. Cooperating partners act as mentors, guiding the student interns as they work toward gaining practical experiences that align with their personal learning goals. Each student intern gains knowledge of the entry-level requirements of a profession and experiences the real lifework environment.

Internship students engage in the following 21st century learning expectations: communicate effectively, interact and engage effectively and become productive members of society by:

  • Demonstrating personal and academic responsibility and accountability
  • Collaborating effectively in diverse teams while respecting and valuing cultural differences
  • Acting with respect and integrity as members of a community while understanding societal norms and values
  • Learning how to adapt to change and be flexible while managing goals and time
  • Apply a fundamental understanding of ethical issues when using digital technologies for communication and networking

Career internships may be paid or unpaid. Credit will be determined by number of contact hours and other requirements identified in the Career Internship guidelines and determined by consultation with the School-to-Career Coordinator. A grade of pass (P) or fail (F) will be given. Students interested in participating in a Career Internships should see the School-to-Career Coordinator.
